So what is all the hype about BB Cream? You’ve heard about it for over a year now, but still haven’t ventured to try it or simply don’t know what it is or how it would improve your life. “BB”, or Beauty Balm, or Blemish Balm was recently brought back to life by MAC and a slew of other companies. The promise of this cream is to even out and illuminate the skin creating a dewy, glowing look. Originally created in the 1960’s by a Polish dermatologist to soothe and conceal redness in skin that had undergone a chemical peel, the concept recently gained major traction in Asia and has taken off like wildfire this year. The good news is that it is lightweight and infused with ingredients targeted at doing the jobs of priming, moisturizing, illuminating, blocking the sun, turning back the clock, and providing light-weight coverage. Seem too good to be true? It is if you are like much of the population that this product is less that ideal for. While it is great for basically healthy fair to medium skin tones, skin that is dark, red or discolored (most of us), or has acne would do better to stick with more coverage or a product with a broader spectrum of shades. If you have skin that fair and in good shape, this might be the product for you (don’t forget to apply concealer and powder)!
